Plum Wine and Film Festivals  What a crazy few weeks it has been here in Korea! So, this post is going to be a little picture heavy.  Here's the place were I go to eat sometimes. Katie will recognize it as the place my My Lovable Girl  which it totally is and I die every time I see it. I also got to go to Costco in Korea and this was the beautiful view. I think it was a sign that I was always meant to shop at Costco.  This is what I frequently see on my walks home.  Here's the elevator and door to my apartment. The reason I took a pic of this is because I thought it was just something on the internet that Koreans don't put the number 4 on their buildings because it is bad luck, but it is totally true! They just put "F" instead. So weird. And, this is my door. As you can see, there is no key. I have to slide the panel up and then I put in my code and it unlocks for me. As soon as I shut the door, the automatic door lock...
Some things I would like in care packages  A lot of people have been asking me what I would want in a care package so I decided to make a list here. **Just a reminder that I will not be posting my address on here. If you would like my address, please contact either me or my parents.  Also, I know a lot of you are planning on sending care packages right away (which I really really appreciate!) but if some of you want to wait for a month or two, that would be great too. I'm enjoying myself so much right now because everything is new and different and fun but everyone who has lived here longer than I have tells me that the homesickness starts kicking in the second or third month here. I miss everyone so much already, I don't know how bad that homesickness will be, so I'd love even just letters from you guys in the next coming months to help me get through it. :)  Anyway, here's some of the stuff I can think of:  -Reese's (really any American candy you ...

The Subway System here in Korea  I've been taking the subway system a lot here in Korea so I thought I'd share more pictures, just like Patrice asked for ;). For starters, the subways here are SO SO SO much cleaner than in the States. Like I'm talking spotless. Everyone is quiet and there are designated seats for old people that if you sit in, they or someone else will yell at you. For real, I saw it happen already.  Here's some artwork in one of the stations.  Here's what a Korean soldier looks like. LOOK HOW CLEAN AND QUIET IT IS.  MERS posters are everywhere here (and the Koreans pronounce it like Mares which is funny).  Here's a video of what it's like riding the subway past Seoul. I even rode the subway for the first time by myself today! So crazy that I can navigate a subway in another language. :)

4th of July Weekend in Korea  It's been such a good "first" weekend here in Korea! I had to work last Saturday (it's a long story) so this was my first full weekend here, and it did not disappoint. Friday night I went shopping with one of my coworkers in a place called Bupyeong in their underground shopping tunnels and it was crazy. I couldn't get any pictures because it was wall-to-wall people but it was intense! There were a ton of little shops everywhere with good, cheap clothing and I got some cute stuff. Some shirts, sparkly earrings, and sandals.  On Saturday I did some grocery shopping and let me tell you, it was intense. The grocery store is 4 stories here and there are little old ladies everywhere trying to get you to try their stuff (like in Costco) but they are screaming at you while you walk by (unlike Costco). If you haven't been yelled at my dozens of old Korean ladies then you have truly missed out. They are aggressive . And yes, ther...

Some pictures of my school/kids!  I know a few of you (my mom) have been dying to see my school (my mom) and my kids (mostly my mom). So, thanks to my Korean helper teacher, here's a few of them!  This is me in my classroom.  The theme of June was things that live in the ocean, so the school brought in some fish that I had to then present to the kids, haha  Same. (That's a dead squid that I had to hold both before and after this photo). Cooking day! How cute are they?

The First Week in Korea and Apartment Pics! Wow, the first week here has been so crazy. I've seen schools, airports, hospitals, shops, restaurants, and immigration offices and I'm sure so much more that I'm already forgetting. Here are some pictures I think you guys might really enjoy.  Here's a restaurant I pass everyday on my way to work that is super cute.  Here's what the blocks around my school look like (feat. my finger).  And here's some pics of my apartment!  This is my entryway (with the shoes and storage to the left) and my staircase.  My cozy kitchen complete with washing machine (no dryer) AND NO OREO O'S, MIRA. Where the freak do they hide that cereal in this country? I'm gonna find some somehow.  Here's my desk area  My giant window, my wall with my AC and video phone that links up to the doorbell and my bedroom area up top.  It took awhile to hang up all of those photos,...
